Do you need a new floppy disk drive for your synthesizer or sampler?
Chances are that if you have a keyboard that is 10 years or older, then it has a special proprietary designed floppy drive that is not compatible with a normal PC drive. The good news is, there is now an inexpensive solution!!

MIDI-OX
MIDI-OX is a multi-purpose tool: it is both a diagnostic tool and a System Exclusive librarian. It can perform filtering and mapping of MIDI data streams. It displays incoming MIDI streams, and passes the data to a MIDI output driver or the MIDI Mapper. You can generate MIDI data using the computer keyboard or the built-in control panel. You can even record and log MIDI data and then convert it to a Standard MIDI File for playback by a sequencer.

This useful application can send and receive SYSEX information to and from your kit - useful for backing up all your patches and settings before installing a module. It can also send samples over MIDI. Simply drop in a WAV, AIFF or AIF audio file and it will convert it to Midi Sample Dump and send it to your kit! Versions are available for MAC or PC.
KeepALIVE!
If you use a dial-up connection you'll know all about getting kicked off if your connection is idle for a period of time. Give this a try - there's nothing to download or install. It uses your web browser to automatically reload the KeepALIVE webpage in the background so your ISP thinks you're still using the connection. Simply select the refresh time ( 5 mins should do the trick for most ISPs ) and minimize the KeepALIVE pinger window to the taskbar. KeepALIVE requires your web browser's function to be enabled ( it checks this ), and has been tested with IE, Netscape, FireFox, Opera and AOL.
